Associate In Applied Science Degree In Information Technology

Students in this program of study experience career-focused courses and hands-on learning experiences using industry-current equipment and software. The program is intended to prepare students for entry-level positions within the field of Information Technology (IT). Students in this two year (22 months) program of study explore a wide range of experiences including, among other things, PC troubleshooting, applications, operating systems, network configurations, hardware maintenance and computer security. Industry standard certifications are strongly emphasized and encouraged throughout the duration of the program. The program emphasizes entrepreneurship and exploring the various possibilities for contracting one’s services to a myriad of enterprises, local, national and international, providing graduates with extensive possibilities of employment. Upon graduation the student is awarded the Associate in Applied Science Degree in Information Technology

Chester "Chet" Chapman
A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Chester, known as “Chet”, enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1982 in the Infantry, and attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. During his career, “Chet” has served with the U. S. Army Ranger as well as numerous Infantry Units Battalion, with assignments in the United States, Europe, Southwest Asia and Guam. He served in support of Operations Desert Storm (Iraq) and the Global War on Terrorism. “Chet’ was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Distinguished Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and Good Conduct Medal during his career with the U. S. Army before retiring as a Sergeant First Class in 2014. Chet has an Associate of Science Degree from Vincennes University, Vincennes, IN. and is currently a senior with Utica College, Utica, NY seeking a BS degree in Cyber Security with a concentration in Network Forensics and Intrusion Investigations. “Chet” has worked as a Network Security Shift Manager, WA, Information Security Specialist, US Department of Treasury, US Mint, Washington, DC, Information Security Specialist, Software Engineering Center Department of Defense (DoD), VA, and as an Information Security Specialist-Cyber Security, US Army Cyber Command, VA. Chet” was selected as one of only forty special trained in the United States to serve as a Cyber Security Specialist and Threat Analyst for US Marine Corps Forces Cyber Command Cyber Protection Team, as well as the National Security Agency (NSA). Chet’s experience and assignments has been with the nation’s most elite organizations and operations, tasked with the responsibility, and primary mission, of Cyber Security Investigations for the United States Government. He has investigated a wide range of anomalous, uncharacteristic, asymmetrical, and irregular intrusions, as well as advanced persistent threats and infrastructure compromises from unknown, foreign and transcontinental nation state actors.
